So its not that tiny, lol, and nice, I have a Evader pro (probably a older version though) buried in my shed somewhere,

Yeah, it's a good platform... still gonna brushless it, even though that doubles the cost.

Yeah, mines got a old Novak in it, lol, though it started having radio issues, I only use 4 rc cars atm but have antoher 3 or 4 buried. Brushless Associated 10th SC, 1/18 Associated T Brushless, and a Axial Scx10 Crawler..and then my favorite - HPI Baja 5 SC, 5th scale and 2 stroke gas is awesome, lol

Baja? Nice. Wish I had the coin to spend on one of those....
I've got a Micro-T and Maisto LAmbo otherwise, both set up as drift machines- but since my dad's going to be "borrowing" this to run an ArduPilot on from time to time, it's set up as an off-road monster.

Nah, brushless is cheap, throw a 17.5T motor and a reasonably priced ESC in it and you'll have more than enough power without breaking the bank.

I was thinking about the Losi 1/5, but its way to much money. Also, kinda glad I got the HPI, more aftermarket support, lighter, faster in a straight line, more fun in the turns. We have 4 baja's between me, my step dad and stepbrother, lol. I've been thinking about setting up a porpose built drift car but I don't think I'd use it much.

Yeah, the Baja's got tons of aftermarket junk available for it- not nearly the situation my Evader is in. Of course, weirdly, the Evader comes with most every setting (save caster) adjustable.
And, after setting up a test course in a friend's backyard, I think I may have been converted from drift addict to rally obsessive- powersliding this thing in the dirt is just way too fun to be legal!

Hmm.. yeah, a 17.5T would be a sizeable improvement over my, I think, 13T motor.
Can you reccomend any particularly torquey ones?

Yeah, my Evader is stock aside from the Novak, though it was the one that came with aluminum arms and links and a graphite chassis. I like drifting my 18th scale brushless on slicks in my garage :P

You don't need massive amounts of torque, a 1/10 stadium truck moves pretty good with (almost) any motor. Get an economical motor and you'll still have plenty of power.

True, actually. I'd just like a bit more because, given that I've already had to reset the pinion clutch twice this week, I'll probably be running a shorter pinion and taller rear very soon...

Wait, pinion clutch? You mean the slipper clutch, like this?
Cebu

No, the pinion gear, driven directly by the motor, that meshes with that slipper clutch.
It's got this tiny little screw in the side that comes loose basically every time I fail a jump- and this tiny little screw is what keeps the motor shaft connected to the gear and not spinning its nuts off uselessly.
Best guess is I need to loosen my slipper clutch a tad, failing that, new pinion.

Loctite Blue, put some on the pinion set screw. Also make sure the set screw is on the flat of the motor perfectly, get it almost snug on the flat and rock the pinion side to side a little bit as you tighten the set screw, that way you should get the pinion perfectly on the flat spot.
Also make sure your mesh is correct, IIRC use one piece of paper between the gears to give the proper mesh then remove the paper once the motor is tightened down.
As for setting the slipper clutch, IIRC it should be set such that from a dead stop the clutch slips for the first two feet of driving then is fully hooked, may need to reference that one with RCCA or the like just to make sure.

Thanks- forgotten about Loctite, gonna get some soon after I reset the clutch as per your instructions (don't worry- I x-ref'd with the manual, you are 100% correct).
